Paul Danan, Beloved ‘Hollyoaks’ Actor and Reality TV Personality, Dies at 46

Paul Danan, the British actor and reality TV star best known for his role in the U.K. soap Hollyoaks, has passed away at the age of 46.

As a teenager, Danan rose to fame playing Sol Patrick, a troubled young man, on Channel 4’s long-running soap Hollyoaks from 1997 to 2001. He also appeared in popular British series including The Queen’s Nose, The Basil Brush Show, and the medical drama Casualty.

Later, Danan became a reality TV fixture, participating in shows like Come Dine With Me, Celebrity Love Island, and Celebrity Big Brother.

In June 2023, Danan revealed in an interview with The Sun that he had experienced respiratory failure caused by a vaping addiction, which left him in intensive care. I was upstairs puffing away on my vape, then suddenly I lost my breath and collapsed, he said. My family called for an ambulance and started giving me CPR. Then the police arrived and took over before paramedics transported me to the hospital. I was on a machine in ICU and developed pneumonia. My family was warned I might not make it through the night. I’m so lucky.Danan is survived by his 8-year-old son, Deniro.
