Danville MLK Committee to Host 2025 Empowering Your Dreams Celebration

The Danville MLK Committee will host the 2025 Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration, featuring a parade, community service, and the presentation of a $6,000 scholarship to a local high school senior. Reverend Dr. Crystal Thomas will deliver the keynote address, with a musical performance led by MLK Music Director Brett Dupree.

DANVILLE, ILL. (WAND) – The Danville MLK Committee is hosting a special event for the 2025 MLK Celebration, themed “Empowering Your Dreams.”

The celebration will kick off with a parade on Monday, January 20, 2025. Parade line-up will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the corner of Main and Logan Streets, with the procession starting at 10:30 a.m.

Following the parade, a community-wide service will be held at St. James United Methodist Church at 11:30 a.m. The service will feature Reverend Dr. Crystal Thomas, Senior Pastor at New Zion Tabernacle in Fort Wayne, Indiana, as the guest speaker.

Additionally, the event will include the presentation of the $6,000 MLK Scholarship to a graduating high school senior from Danville. The service will also feature a musical performance by an ensemble of singers, led by MLK Music Director Brett Dupree.
